Q&A: Head of Studio, Amit Samji speaks to Slots Online Canada

Push Gaming's Head of Studio, Amit Samji, recently spoke to Slots Online Canada and shared some behind-the-scenes insights into what makes Push Gaming tick. From how we choose our game mechanics to which titles Canadian players love most, Amit gives a quick look at our journey, our fan favourites, and what exciting features are coming next.

Why was Push Gaming established?
Push Gaming was founded in 2010 by James Marshall and Winston Lee with the goal of digitising land-based casino games. We later pivoted to developing our own unique HTML5 slots, with the goal of delivering high-quality, player-focused experiences in the online gaming market. Our aim has always been to create amazing experiences for players, which has allowed us to build a varied catalogue of games over the years with a range of thrilling mechanics, stunning visuals and clever design. There's really something for everyone!

How do you decide on a slots mechanic including the RTP?
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to deciding on how a new online slot looks and feels. We have to take a lot of variables into consideration before we’ve even begun the very first stages of creating a new game. First assess our current portfolio to see what’s popular amongst players and see what elements of those games might work in something new. Once we have an idea of the direction we want to go with the game everything else falls into place over time, including the RTP percentage.

Which are your 3 most popular games in Canada?
Canadian players love a classic! Wild Swarm, Razor Shark and Jammin’ Jars are mainstays for players in Canada, but there’s also a lot of love for some more recent hits in Big Bamboo and Retro Tapes.

Are there any new existing features that you will be launching that we should look out for?
We introduced the world to our Push Ways mechanic with the release of Big Bite Push Ways. This mechanic features nudging Hot Zones, which splits any symbol within the overlay into two. This in turn increases the number of available ways to 262,144, massively driving engagement amongst players. The reception for the Push Ways mechanic has been fantastic and we’re looking forward to seeing the mechanic appear in future releases.
