Roundtable: All the keys to the growth of the Spanish market with Country Manager for Italy, Piero Carlucci

Push Gaming's Country Manager Piero Carlucci, recently participated in a roundtable with Gaming Intelligence Espanol to discuss the growing Spanish iGaming market. Read Piero's full answers below, and click here to read the full roundtable in Spanish.

With Spain’s online gambling market growing by almost 18% last year, fuelled largely by the popularity of online slots, we look at where the major opportunities lie for suppliers and operators in what is one of the largest regulated markets in Europe.

Against the background of relaxed regulations surrounding advertising, how attractive is Spain as an opportunity?
We take pride in being a slot provider that actively works to expand and strengthen our presence in regulated markets; therefore, Spain is a nation of great significance. We also believe that the gaming market in the country has not yet reached full maturity, which means we can and want to play a key role in guiding its development to the next level.

This is why we are already live with some of the most prominent operators, and we are in the process of significantly boosting our presence by finalising deals with leading brands.

How important is it to localise the online offering to appeal to Spanish players?
It is a key aspect of our strategy when approaching territories of such importance, as localisation goes much further than the translation of the rules and games. We are working to create content that appeals to the local audience, from themes to look and feel.

We believe we have the right cards in our hands to ensure that Spanish customers are highly satisfied, just as we have done in every territory we have entered so far.

What cross-sell opportunities exist in the market, particularly given that sport in Spain is so high-profile?
Spain undeniably stands out as one of the most significant countries in Europe due to its rich sporting culture and its abundance of exceptional athletes in football, tennis, basketball, and other sports. This results in an audience that is quite receptive to the entertainment of betting.

However, the market is much broader, as bingo and lotteries, for example, have a historical appeal to large segments of the population. This means that any operations can tailor cross-selling strategies to their customer base, creating a highly diversified landscape.

We are excited and ready to work with each of our partners. Indeed, we believe in building strong relationships with all of them by implementing a strategic approach that fosters the growth of their verticals alongside the expansion of our presence. Our outstanding commercial team comprises qualified and friendly professionals who are enthusiastic about supporting and collaborating on the plans and strategies that will shape the market going forward.

What are your hopes for the future of this market?
As mentioned earlier, Spain is already a key territory for us and central to our strategic plan to expand into regulated markets. We believe we are on the right path to soon become one of the leading players in the industry, thanks to the quality of our content, our ability to support our partners with strategies that fully promote their growth, and the volume and scale of the deals we are about to close.

As a market, we believe that Spain benefits from well-designed regulation, a large and growing audience, and a strong commitment to responsible gaming, making it one of the markets to watch in the near future.
